 BIRD HOUSES FOR SALE

The Navan Lions club is temporarily suspending its planter production. We are now into birdhouses, shelters and nest building boxes. Most houses are constructed of cedar with stainless steel nails and brads or solid brass screws. Hal MacPherson is willing to take a look at your property to see what you can expect in the way of nesting birds and which house would be appropriate and where it should be mounted. Further information can be obtained by contacting Hal MacPherson at 613-835- 3502 or e-mail at halairforce@hotmail.com

We are here throughout the year, ready willing and able to help with community events or to provide services such as those described below.  Please contact us at any time to let us know how we can be of assistance.

 Used Children's Books for Donation
As part of the Lions’ vision screening programme, we are often situated in the school libraries and notice that some schools are in dire need of children’s books to fill their shelves. Knowing how the education budgets of some schools in high needs districts of Ottawa are stretched, we have recently received a letter from two schools (Arch St. and Hawthorne) looking for assistance in this area. At this time of year, families are often looking to dispose of unwanted toys and books in preparation for the Christmas season and we wondered if instead of throwing books out, they could be recycled and used by families at these two schools. We are therefore initiating a book drive. Hawthorne school is a K – 8 school so books suitable for your teenagers would also be appreciated. Any children’s books can either be dropped off at Nifty Fifties (which takes place in the Arena every Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 – 4:30), can be given to any Navan Lions member, or you can call me (Chris MacPherson at 835-3502) and I will pick up the books from your house.
